Dual-Fuel LNG Tanker Fleet Expansion Continues with New Vinga Series Orders

A group of shipping enterprises based in Sweden, Norway, and Canada has placed orders for four new dual-fuel LNG vessels. This development expands the Vinga series to a total of 26 ships. The announcement coincided with the christening ceremony for the Fure Vasa, a recently constructed Vinga class vessel that arrived in Europe from the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard.

Two of these newly ordered vessels will be operated by FureBear, a joint venture established between Algoma Central Corporation, a Canadian entity, and Furetank, a Swedish shipping firm. Furetank played a key role in the development of the Vinga series design, collaborating with FKAB Marine Design.

The Vinga series features a design that incorporates several advancements in maritime technology and operational efficiency. These vessels are equipped to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), offering an alternative fuel option for bunkering operations. Their design focuses on reducing emissions and optimizing fuel consumption for shipping routes.
